Précis:    To present the need for maturity; for re-evaluation, self examination, honest assessment and committed dedication to the Word; bring about a perfecting of the saints … unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ! – Eph. 4:11-14

Text: Galatians 4:1-3

Introduction:

A euphemism is a substitution of an agreeable or inoffensive expression for one that may be unpleasant or affronting. When a situation is so vulgar, obscene, painful or harsh that describing it in factual terms is offensive, a soothing euphemism is used. For example, the genocide of entire races is called “ethnic cleansing”; the murder of a human fetus is called “family planning”; the indoctrination of New-age Philosophies and Eastern religion is called “education” or “higher learning”; a person who is a sodomite is called “gay”; a passenger airline crash in the ocean is called a “water landing”; adultery and fornication in the church is called “sexual indiscretion”; embezzlement of money is no longer called fraud or theft, it is now called “financial mismanagement”, and garbage dumps are now called “land fills”, but they breed the same vermin, infection and rodents and smell just as bad! It is time we identified a spade and called it that!

There is an urgent need to identify the cause for dysfunctional behavior in a Christian’s community and address it in factual terms. The message to the church of Jesus Christ is simple and direct;

Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, {nay’-pee-os – an infant, little child, a minor, not of age, childish, untaught, unskilled} differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all; But is under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the father. Even so we, when we were children, {nay’-pee-os} were in bondage under the elements of the world: – Galatians 4:1-3

Grow up!  Grow up!   Grow up !   Grow up!   Grow up!

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed {soos-khay-mat-id’-zo = fashion self according to; to conform one’s self, one’s mind and character to another’s pattern} to this world: but be ye transformed {met-am-or-fo’-o = to change into another form, to transform, to transfigure} by the renewing {an-ak-ah’-ee-no-sis = a renewal, renovation, complete change for the better}of your mind {nooce =  the mind, compris-ing alike the faculties of perceiving and understanding and those of feeling, judging, determining} that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. – Romans 12:1-2
