9.1. Study Material

Précis and Class Outcome:

This class deals with heredity (hereditum – heirship), environment (in+viron – inside the circle) and the conditions that lead to immaturity. Man is born with no intuitive, cognitive knowledge. He is a product of his heredity and environment. This can result in an inability to maintain equilibrium under stressful conditions. After studying this class, you should be able to understand the cause and effect dynamics of behavior.

Text:   Deuteronomy 6:7-9; Proverbs 22:6

And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes. And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates. (Deuteronomy 6:7-9)

Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. (Proverbs 22:6)

9.1   Contributing Conditions That Lead To Immaturity

The conditions that lead to arrested development are rooted in early childhood rearing. The newborn child has no intuitive knowledge. All that any child will ever know will be learned through experience during development. This includes our knowledge, language, values, tastes, self-image, problem solving skills, modus operandi and more. It is evident that where there is no direction and/or misdirection, stunted development occurs. Listed are 10 conditions that lead to immaturity. How prevalent were these conditions in your life?
