Never doubt God’s willingness or ability to work miracles through human flesh; your flesh. When believers recognize this fact, then the best place on earth to be is in the presence of Christians. Because of worldly opposition, the church has developed rugged individualism and a fierce competitiveness. As noble as this determination to excel may be, it has resulted in isolationism and division, both within and without the church.
This was never our Lord’s intent! We have been placed into a body; the Body of Christ and the local body of believers. The Apostle Paul underscores this fact in Romans 12:5 when he asserts that we, being many, are one body in Christ! It is here that we draw strength and gain resources from one another. Every Christian has a need! Every Christian has the ability to minister to others who have needs. It is not you yourself that works the miracles, but God in you, who is the hope of glory!
The entire class will be divided into small cells of three people. Here we will minister to one another by sharing our needs and also minister to those who have needs.
Are any of you afflicted? let him pray. Is it merry? let him sing psalms.
Are any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them
pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer
of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have
committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. Confess your faults one to another,
and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer
of a righteous man availeth much. Elias was a man subject to like passions as
we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the
earth by the space of three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the
heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit. – James 5:13-18
