Present the conditions required for walking in Divine favor; the blessings of God’s favor and the loss when favor is lacking.

Text: Deuteronomy 11:13-26

And it shall come to pass, if ye harken diligently unto my commandments which I command you this day, to love the LORD your God, and to serve him with all your heart and all your soul, That I will give you the rain of your land in his due season, the first rain and the latter rain, that thou mayest gather in thy corn, and thy wine, and thine oil. And I will send grass in thy fields for thy cattle, that thou mayest eat and be full. Take heed to yourselves, that your heart be not deceived, and ye turn aside, and serve other gods, and worship them; And then the LORD’S wrath be kindled against you, and he shut up the heaven, that there be no rain, and that the land yield not her fruit; lest ye perish quickly from off the good land which the LORD giveth you. (v:13-17)

No Christian can ever doubt that a life in Christ far exceeds the best that the world can offer. The Bible is replete with examples of victory for the faithful. Jesus himself declared, I am come that ye might have life, and that ye might have it more abundantly. (John 10:10) In one brief sentence Jesus made two significant statements. He first declared that he came to give eternal life. This is unconditional and guaranteed. I have come that ye might have life! He purchased everything we need for life and godliness on Calvary. No one can earn salvation. We need do nothing but acknowledge Him as Lord and Savior. All we have to do is receive what has already been earned for us. What a price he paid for our redemption!

Jesus then declared that a life of peace, joy and success was ours for the taking. I am come that ye might have life, and that ye might have it more abundantly! This is life here and now that is abundant, copious, abounding, plenteous, fruitful and flowing. What a life he provided for us! Eternal life comes by faith and only faith. Abundant living however, does not come by faith. We enter abundant living through the door of obedience.

It is every Christian’s rightful heritage to enjoy life to its fullest measure. Who is it that can overcome unexpected difficulties and setbacks? It is he against whom the gates of Hell shall not prevail. Who are they who can make accurate choices in uncertain circumstances? They are they who have the mind of Christ! Who is it that can lay his head on the pillow of rest and sleep with the serenity of a baby but he who has the peace of God that passes all understanding. All this and much more is ours. The price has been paid.

Whom the Son sets free, he is free indeed!  John 8:36

A faithful man will be richly blessed, but one eager to get rich will not go unpunished.
