Understanding  Satan’s  Strategies                               Class  7

Précis:    To sketch Satan’s subtle and multiform attack against God’s children; point out his fear of the Christian’s invincible power.

Text:    James 4:7-8

Introduction:

If anyone can walk with a song in his heart, a whistle on his lips and a bounce in his step, it is the child of God. If anyone can make wise decisions, it is she who has the mind of Christ. If anyone can go to bed and sleep with the serenity of a child, it is he who has the peace of God. There is no need to live under a curse!

If this is true, then why, Why, WHY …

√   Why should the heathen rule over the righteous?

√   Why should the enemies of God legislate the rights of the upright?

√   Why should scoffers blaspheme the holy name of our Lord?

√   Why should they violate His precepts?

√   Why should the enemies of God triumph?

√   Why should His children live in defeat, bondage and misery?

√  Why should Christians be considered the off-casts of society; benign, insipid non-entities, harbingers of archaic concepts? Why?

√   Why should we who are the “Light of the world” obscure that light in shrouds of secrecy, timidity and ineffectiveness while every “uncircumcised philistine” flaunts his perversion with defiance? Why?

√   Why does it appear that the ungodly prosper while the righteous often falter?

√   Why must we stand back without objection while the god of this world and his offspring defy every godly precept with total impunity?  WHY?

√  BECAUSE WE AS CHRISTIANS HAVE NOT TAKEN OUR RIGHTFUL PLACE OF AUTHORITY! AS CHILDREN OF THE KING OF KINGS WE HAVE ABDICATED THE THRONE! FREEDOM IS NEVER LOST, IT IS ABANDONED! THIS MUST NOT BE! THIS CANNOT BE! IT SHALL NOT BE!

We are taught to submit ourselves entirely to God: Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you, v. 7. Christians should forsake the friendship of the world, and watch against that envy and pride which they see prevailing in natural men, and should by grace learn to glory in their submissions to God. “Submit yourselves to him as subjects to your prince, in duty, and as one friend to another, in love and interest. Submit your understandings to the truths of God; submit your wills to the will of God, the will of his precept, the will of his providence.” We are subjects, and as such must be submissive; not only through fear, but through love; not only for wrath, but also for conscience’ sake.  (Matthew Henry)
